 WHY THE CHURCH NEEDS HIM

Ever wonder why the cults are so committed when we seem to have trouble even getting to church? As an example, look at David Koresh and Jim Jones etc. People flocked to them and we can’t seem to get anyone to come to church! Satan led these people, yet the Word says God is greater than Satan. We can even cast Satan out of a person with the name of Jesus but Satan can not cast Jesus out of us. We have to give Him up voluntarily.

I heard an evangelist say one time that if we used 100 % of a tiny fraction we would have more power than someone who could tap into the energy of the universe but won’t even try!

WHAT HAPPENED?    Something got turned around somewhere!

The answer is, we have ignored the most POWERFUL PERSON on the face of the earth…THE HOLY SPIRIT.  It is time that we exercise the Power of the Almighty God.

It is time we, the church, tapped into the POWER SOURCE.

God intended for the church to be alive and vibrant. He sent His Spirit with Gifts, Boldness and Power. Everything the church could possibly need to function and be alive. It is up to us to yield to the Spirit and let Him use us.

How do we do this?  It’s called the ANOINTING. The anointing removes the yoke (control) that is FEAR and the fear is that we will make a mistake. That maybe it’s not the anointing…1st John 2:27…

Says, but the anointing, which you have received of Him (the Holy Spirit) lives in you and you need no man to teach you (about Him) as the same anointing teaches you about all things, and is Truth and is no lie, and even as He hath taught you, you shall live in Him.

You’ll know when the Spirit anoints you to do something and also when He does not. There is nothing more tragic or scarier than for someone who does not have the anointing to try and produce it on his or her own! That’s where you get over into self and humans can’t even use you let alone the Holy Spirit!

The True Anointing has always been a function of The Holy Spirit. Its main purpose is to proclaim the Salvation Message with Power.

[Isaiah 61:1]…THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD GOD IS UPON ME BECAUSE THE LORD HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH GOOD TIDINGS UNTO THE MEEK, HE HAS SENT ME TO BIND UP THE BROKEN HEARTED, TO PROCLAIM LIBERTY TO THE CAPTIVES AND THE OPENING OF THE PRISON TO THOSE THAT ARE BOUND.

If you want the anointing, you must begin to understand WHO the Holy Spirit is and how He operates.  Remember one thing…HE IS NOT A SERVANT…He is in charge…He’s the LEADER OF THE BODY OF CHRIST.

Always remember that He is very gentle, can be hurt very easily and won’t bother you unless you invite Him in.  God the Father and Jesus the Son both protect Him!

[Isaiah 63:10]…God is speaking…they rebelled and VEXED His Holy Spirit; therefore He was turned to be their enemy and fought against them. (VEXED means afflicted or tormented) God in essence is saying, “Touch Him and I will never forgive you”…(Mark 3:29)…Jesus speaking…My blood will wash away every sin but this one! You will not be forgiven in this world or the next one if you speak against the Holy Spirit! This is because He can be hurt so very deeply, so we must not Grieve Him or Quench Him.

To grieve means to resist and when you resist Him you stop Him from working.

Grieve…Greek…root word loopa…to feel pain in body and mind…to suffer mental and physical pain…these go much deeper than just hurt!

Quench…to put out…like putting water on a fire…get over into the flesh or self and you will feel Him slowly depart.

Paul spoke to the Ephesians and the Thessalonians about this very thing, Grieving and quenching the Holy Spirit. I believe this is the greatest sin of the church then and now! If you grieve or resist Him, He will leave your presence with a broken heart.

If He is quenched, He will quietly depart and may never come back. This could be tragic for most people because if He departs for good then you will never again feel that small tug at your heart as He convicts you of sin. When you have felt that tug it has been the Holy Spirit.

The Word says, Harden not your heart as in the day of provocation…meaning as in the day that Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let God’s people go and so signed his own death warrant.

When the Christian and sinner alike come to the point in their life that they no longer feel conviction, no longer think they can live a holy life and resist and quench the Person of the Holy Spirit they are in deep trouble! It is HE (the Spirit) that gives us the POWER to live holy!

[As I have said before, if you do not have the infilling of the Holy Spirit, you should be actively seeking it. We are going to need Him more in these last days than we ever have before]
