 HIS JOB

The HOLY SPIRIT has a personality…He is a person!

He was first sent as a Comforter (helper) in John 16: 7 but the scriptures give Him many names.

HELPER…TEACHER....GUIDE (which means companion and friend)

2nd Corinthians mentions all three of the Trinity and shows each ones personality…GRACE…LOVE…COMMUNION.

The Holy Spirit is the one who ADOPTED us into the family of God.

                             (Romans 8: 14&15)

HE is the one who convicts us of SIN and there is no hope of SALVATION unless the Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus.

John 14:17 tells us that He is WITH us when we repent and make Jesus the Lord of our lives and He is IN us when we are baptized in the Spirit.

(IN means FILLED UP…INFILLING…no room for anything else.

A true experience WITH the Holy Spirit is a life-long experience. It does not STOP when we are filled and SPEAK IN TONGUES. It goes beyond SALVATION…WATER BAPTISM…AND THE INFILLING.

It is a LIFE-GIVING…LIFE –FULFILLING…LIFE-LONG…PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP.

                 (A RELATIONSHIP MEANS)

                     Webster** Relation…an existing connection…(life-long)

A particular way of being related as

By blood or marriage (blood, Jesus)

                                                         Marriage (we are the bride)

SHIP…a vessel intended and used for

                                                        Navigation.

                                                         (Navigation)…the process of

                                                                                  directing a vessel on

                                                                                   It’s proper course.

Let’s take this a little farther.

SHIPMATE…One who serves with another in the same vessel.

SHIPSHAPE…In good order and well arranged.

We see then that a RELATIONSHIP with the Holy Spirit is a life-long, existing connection provided for by the BLOOD (death) of Jesus, and we, as the SHIP…VESSEL....BODY that holds the Holy Spirit who is the NAVIGATOR that sets us on the proper course are SHIPMATES. We are working together or in Communion with each other to keep us SHIPSHAPE or in good working order!

As the navigator of a ship keeps making little adjustments to keep his ship in good order and going in the right direction, so also does the Holy Spirit keep making adjustments in our lives to keep us going in the right direction…. EPHESIANS 2:18/22
