VII.  CASTING OUT DEMONS

Cast….To put or place forcibly or hastily

Demon….An evil spirit

Casting out a demon is to place forcibly an evil spirit back where he belongs. 
Cast him out…Send him out to walk in dry places where he can’t bother you and then get
yourself in the position to be able to resist him should he come back to check on you.

You can not send or cast him into hell as hell is not in the picture yet!

Remember what Legion said in [Luke 8:28,30,31]?  What have I to do with thee, Jesus? 
Torment me not. In other words, it was not the time to place them into Hell as that comes
 in Revelations, so he allowed them to go into a herd of swine. They are still FREE...
to this day…and can possess.

Demons do not die….They burn forever 

Although most people want nothing to do with this, it is part and parcel of the work of the
Church and as disciples of Jesus Christ we are to do the work He told us to do.
(not just hearers but doers)

A disciple…means….a follower…add "ine" to it….discipline 
A disciple is an obedient follower.  When Christ called His disciples He said
“Follow Me”.  He did not mean to walk behind Him or to dog His footsteps or to be
there to get Him anything He wanted!  When He said “Follow Me”, He meant for them
to be like Him…To copy Him…To follow His example.

As Christians we should be Christ-like….As we begin to study the life of Christ, we see
what our work is to be. 

[Luke 4:18,19]  Gives us a very clear picture of the Jesus that we are to follow.

(1)  Preach  (tell) the Gospel to the poor

(a)  Tell…everybody can’t be a preacher but everybody can tell the Gospel
(good news)…Salvation….not only to the poor in material things but to
 the poor spiritually.

(2)   Heal the broken-hearted….maybe just by listening

(a)  Broken-hearted…Crushed by grief, weakened in Strength and spirit

(3)   Preach deliverance to the captive…[Romans 10:10]

           This means to explain Salvation to the ones satan still holds captive in sin.

(4)   Recovering of sight to the blind…both physical and spiritual.  [Matt. 15:13,14]

(5)    Set at liberty them that are bruised…[2^nd Corinthians 12:7]

            Liberty….Freedom          Bruise….To crush by beating or pounding

In other words, show people how to be set free from the pounding and beating,
struggling and fighting they are getting from satan and his helpers!  When you begin
to teach or try this you had better be in the Word and know what you are talking
about because whatever you dish out will certainly come back to you. 

As Christians the first four doesn’t seem to bother us but number five seems to
scare us to death… [Luke 12:4,5]  We need not to be afraid to cast out demons 
[1^st john 4:4,13,17,18]  [1^st John 5:14,15,18]  Use the name of Jesus!!!

 Though we should not be afraid to cast out demons, we better know how to do it and
what the requirements are. Don’t think this is just something you jump into without study. 

(1)    We must be saved….[Romans 10:9,10]

(2)    We must be full of the Holy Ghost for He is Power  [Acts 1:8]

(3)    We must always use the name of Jesus as He gives the power 
[Matt. 10:1]  [Luke 10:19]

(4)    We must Believe in that name and it’s power when used before
 God……[Mark 9:23]

(5)    We must never doubt…[James 1:5/8]

(6)    Sometimes we will have to fast and pray…[Mark 9:29]

(7)    Have Faith in the one you are praying to…[Mark 11:22/24]

                Fear is the direct opposite of Faith

 [Matt. 18:18/20]      “TWO IN AGREEMENT”…With Jesus it’s a Majority

[Mark 6:7,12,13]  Jesus, Himself, must have thought this was necessary

Always make sure of your prayer partner.  Make sure you BOTH agree on what
you are praying for.  BOTH of you make sure that it lines up with the Word!

[Mark 16:15/18]

As the disciples were to take over the work of Jesus after His death, we (as disciples)
are to take over the work of Jesus in the church age.

[Ephesians 6:11/18]

You must make sure that you are wearing the Whole Armor of God.  If we are going
to do this work of casting out demons, we must be sure to know what we are doing. 
We Must (and it can’t be stressed enough) have a personal relationship with Jesus and
be full of the Holy Ghost before we even attempt this work of casting out demons!  

[Acts 19:13/16]……The Seven Sons of Sce/va…High Priest 

This is a story about the High Priests sons that tried to do the things that the Apostle Paul
did. Paul was doing many miracles and casting out demons.  These men did not know
who Jesus was or have any personal knowledge of Him.  But you know how some
people are…monkey see, monkey do.  These men decide they are going to cast out a
demon just like Paul does. Needless to say, these men try but do not succeed.  They
command the demon, by the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches, to come out.  The
demon tells them that they know Paul and they know Jesus but not them. So the demons
beat them up and tear their clothes off them and send them into the street naked.

This should tell you that you had better know Jesus personally before you try
anything like casting out demons!

You can know Him by just simply inviting Him into your heart and life right now.
By believing He is the Son of God, was crucified and raised from the dead.
Ask forgiveness of your sins and make Him Lord of your life and you will be saved.
