V. ANGELS' MINISTRY IN CHRIST’S LIFE
While Christ was here on earth, He was Human
just like you and me, and there were times that the
angels had to minister to Him. I’m sure they still do but in a different
way. Much of the same things they did
for Him, He now sends them to do for us.
You will find in the scriptures at times the
angel will be called “The Angel of the Lord”. When this happens,
you look at what the occasion is and you can pretty much tell which angel it is.
While Matthew gives an account of the conception of Jesus, he does not name the ‘ANGEL OF THE LORD”.
So we begin to search the other gospels to see if they do as most of them are
the same, they just
see things from a different point of view.
An Angel was present:
(1) At the Conception of Jesus….Gabriel [Matt. 1:18/21] [Luke 1:26/38]
(2) To herald His birth….[Luke 2:1/14]
(3) Appeared to Joseph when King Herod wanted Jesus killed [Matt. 2:12/14]
(4) Told Joseph what to do when Herod died....[Matt. 2:19/25]
(5) To sustain Him after His temptation…Matt. 4:5/11]
(6) Was with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane......Luke 22:39/43
(7) Witnessed His Resurrection…1st Timothy 3:16
(8) Proclaimed His Resurrection…Matt. 28:1/7
(9) Accompanied Him to Heaven…Acts 1:9/11
I’m sure there were other times that angels were
with Jesus but it is not written in the Bible and when
you are teaching you have to be able to prove what you say…(example…When He was
crucified,
He could have called on the whole host of heaven if He had so desired.
